Just about everything that you need to get from the DMV comes along with a form. It can be a big hassle to drive into the office just to get the form but, thanks to the internet, that’s no longer mandatory. Instead, you can get most of the papers that you need right at home. You can get the forms you need quickly and easily, and many can be filled out online. Hop on your computer and save yourself a headache.
Filling in a Virtual Form
The DMV in many states offers PDF forms that you can download right to your computer. With the PDF on your machine, it should be easy to type in the answers to all the questions on the form. Instead of having to fill in the form by hand you can simply use your keyboard, which for many people is faster than handwriting things these days. To get the form, visit the website for your DMV and download the one you need. After you’ve downloaded the form, open it up and fill it out.
If you don’t have a program that will open the form, you can get a free one called Adobe Reader. It’s a simple tool that lets you open and fill out PDF forms and other PDF documents in general. Get the program and get started.
Entering in Your Information
With the document now opened, move your mouse cursor or press the tab key to start entering in information. Fill in the first box and hit the tab key to move to the second one. Continue this process throughout the entire form, and then save your results for the DMV.
Finalizing the Document
After you fill in all the necessary information, take a minute to look back over the document to make sure that you entered everything in properly. As long as you did, you can print out the form and then sign the bottom of it with a blue or black ink pen.
Some DMV websites also let you fill in forms right on the site itself. These forms work the same as the PDF versions, but you don’t have to download anything. Instead, you enter in your information, and then you submit the form right through the website. You can get the document processed by the DMV faster this way, and you don’t have to deal with mailing it in, or bringing it into the office yourself.
There are plenty of ways to obtain DMV forms today without heading into the office and, in some states, you can submit them directly online. Doing it this way saves time, but many official tasks will still require you to head into the office. It still makes sense to fill the forms out first and then to bring them with you to the office if you want to minimize your time waiting.
