How do you drive in fog safely?

According to the US Department of Transportation, there was an average of 28,533 crashes attributed to fog annually from 2005-2014. If you have no other option than to drive in fog, the Texas Department of Insurance has the following recommendations. Slow down, increase following distance, use low beam headlights and never high beams, use wipers and defroster to increase visibility and don't change lanes unless necessary.
