Here are the steps you need to follow to receive the benefits of a NY DMV-approved PIRP course:

If You Have Received a Traffic Citation:

1. Contact the court handling your citation to confirm eligibility for the PIRP program. Eligibility will be based on the type of violation and the length of time since your last course completion.
2. Enroll in and fully complete a PIRP course through a provider approved by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles prior to your scheduled hearing date.Obtain an official PIRP course completion certificate from the provider upon finishing all required coursework. 6. Verify any adjustments made to the traffic citation charges or points on your license with the court and New York DMV after the hearing.
